Popsy recently had a physical and the doctor sent him to get a stress test. After the stress test the doctor called that afternoon and told Nathan he had an appointment the following Wednesday with the Cardiologist for an arteriogram and he could not miss it. He also said that there were five signs of congestive heart failure and Nathan had all five signs. Needless to say we were worried but never imagined it would all be as serious as it was. We were all hoping he would go have the arteriogram and they could fix the blockages with a couple of stints...WRONG! His main artery was 100% blocked and another one was 90% blocked so he would have to have a double bypass.
The picture I had blown up and framed to take to the hospital.
Lincoln hated the signs and wanted to crumble them up.
Harrison knew exactly what to do. He is such a sweetheart.
After the arteriogram on Wednesday they set his surgery for Friday. We all knew that he would be out of commission for a while and wouldn't be able to play with Lincoln. Lincoln loves his Popsy and Popsy really wanted to see him. He wanted to see Harrison as well but I am not of fan of taking kids to the hospital. I didn't really like the idea of taking Lincoln but I for sure didn't want to take Harrison. Lincoln did okay and made friends with everyone. He wanted to get on Popsy's hospital bed and jump. Then he wanted to drink his ice water which he spilled on the bed. We had a good time but I think Mopsy and Popsy were ready for us to leave. Thankfully the surgery went well and Nathan is on the road to recovery. For the first time in his life he is taking time off from work. He had a rough few days after the surgery and had to have his heart shocked back into rhythm. We had to limit the guest to only immediate family so he could rest but after a week in the hospital he finally got to go home on Thursday (5/3/12).
