Harrison's Birth Story

The day started out like any other.  I wasn't allowed to eat eight hours before the surgery so Christian went and got us breakfast about 7:30am.  I ate two butter biscuit because I knew I would be starving by the time 4pm rolled around.  After breakfast I finished getting everything for the hospital together and Lincoln's stuff packed for the next few days.  We left for the hospital around 1pm and dropped Lincoln off at my Mom's house.  We ran to party city to get a duck like Lincoln had for everyone to sign and then we were on our way to the hospital. I was a nervous wreck.  I arrived at the hospital a few minutes after 2pm and checked in.  It was just Christian and I for the first hour or so then my sister, Dad and step mom arrived.  The preacher from my mom's church, Bro Eddie, came by to wish me luck and say a prayer.  He has always been so wonderful to check on me throughout the years.

About 3:45pm my Mom showed up with Lincoln and my brother Dex.
Can you tell Lincoln was super excited??  Haha!  He had no idea how much his life was about to change.

Christian, me, Tasia and Mr. Lincoln

Tasia and Christian in their lovely scrubs for surgery.  I don't remember Christian having to wear the hazmat suite when I had Lincoln but I don't remember much about my c-section with him.
Last picture as a family of three.

I headed back to get my spinal about 4:15pm.  I think the time leading up to this point was worse than the surgery.  My nerves were shot by this point.  I was on the verge of tears the whole time.  It wasn't because it hurt it was the fact I didn't know what to expect.  Thankfully my friend, Libby, who works at the hospital was there with me the whole time.  The spinal wasn't too bad but it hurt worse than an epidural but still not bad.  Once they got the spinal in I was good to go.  It did make it feel like someone was standing on the chest for a few minutes.  I felt like I couldn't breath so they gave me an oxygen mask.  The morphine made me itch like crazy!!!  I was clawing at my face and arms through the whole surgery.  It was weird knowing what was going on but not being about to feel anything but pressure.  I did smell my flesh burning when they but me open.  Flesh burning is not a good smell.  The surgery was smooth and at 5:09pm Harrison Joseph Barajas was born.
He was 20inches long and weighed 7lbs 9oz.  He was beautiful!!

Getting to see him for the first time.

After the doctors sewed me back up I went to the recovery room.  After checking Harrison out in the nursery they bought him to me in recovery.  I nursed him and then allowed a couple of people in the meet him.  I just told the the grandmothers to come in because the room was small and there was already a lot going on.  I had to stay in recovery for an hour before I could go to my room.  Once I got to the room there was a ton of people waiting to meet Mr. Harrison.
