Dex & Lincoln's Birthday Dinner

I took the day off work yesterday to celebrate!  My big boy turned two and my younger brother turned 20!  Since I was taking the day off I was excited I might get to sleep a little later because I have been having to wake the boys up to leave every morning around 7:30am.  Sleeping until 7am would be amazing!  No such luck.  Both boys woke up at 6am and were ready to party.  I did a few things around the house and got ready then we went to my mom's office so she could watch the boys while I ran to work to send tidy up a couple of things.  Afterwards, I got the idea to go and have a birthday lunch with Daddy.  I was so excited and of course both boys fell asleep on the way since they had been up since 6am.  Christian and I went throught the drive-thru at Burger King and ate in the car at his work.  I really wanted to do something fun with the boys since it was Lincoln's birthday.  I thought about taking them to the TN Aquarium since I was already downtown but they were sleeping so good and I didn't want to wake them.  We just headed back towards home.  I stopped by Christian's Mom's and chatted with her for a few minutes. Finally the boys woke up about 2:30pm and we went to the grocery store to pick up a cake and birthday cards.  After a fun filled trip to the grocery store we went home to play for a little while and freshen up before dinner.

We decided to have dinner at Mellow Mushroom in downtown Chattanooga.  Their food is delicious and they can accomodate a groop pretty easily.

I tried to get a picture without Lincoln's hand in the way but he wanted some icing.

Lincoln ate really well and I was so proud.  He is not a very good eater and he was chowing down on the pizza.

Christian was trying to get a picture of Lincoln giving me a kiss and Lincoln licked me! :)

How precious is this little boy? He just melts my heart!

I got a really good picture of both of them last year but this year was a huge fail!!!

Ready to go play in the water.

Harrison wanted to go play in the water too!

Lincoln wasn't sure what to think at first.

He loved his water guns that Motts got for him.

H-Man loved the water.

Congratulations Dex!

My brother, Dex, received a $1000 scholarship from the NW Georgia Transportation club last week.  This scholarship usually goes to someone persueing a degree in the transportation industry and Dex has no intentions of this.  He is wanting to be a missionary or a teacher.  Here is his essay for the scholarship.

While only a freshman in college and still unsure about what exactly my future holds, I am positive about one thing- that my future does hold me affecting the lives of those people with little hope about their futures.

My dad, my grandfather and now my sister have earned their livings working in the field of transportation - trucking in particular, and have all enjoued great success there!  My Dad wants me to be in trucking, and working for the company that he started back in 2003 - he even named it after my sister and me.  As much as I would like to work for him, I believe, however, that I have a different calling in life.

When I was a kid, I was always the one who tried to look out for the other kids - the ones who seemed to have a hard life.  As I moved through to high school, I became very involved in my youth group and my church, and now that I am in my first full year, at a very good, yet very religious school, I find my interests once again turning to those who have less, or even yet, who have nothing!

We are very blessed her in America to be able to pretty much have anything , or any amount of money that we want.  I wish it were true all over the world.  Those children who have no hope are the people with whom I believe that I am supposed to be serving.

While I know that this is a transportation scholarship, and that I am probably supposed to tell you that I am hoping for a long and wonderful career in the business that has fed my family all these years, I must tell you that my priority at this point in my life is to have a positive impact on young people, whether it be in the ministry, in music or in the classroom- its what I am called to do!

Thank you for considering me for your most prestigious scholarship.

Lincoln's Birthday- Dinner

Christian, Lincoln and I met Dex, Johneen, Phil, Cody, Hilary and Joe for dinner at Thatchers.  We were also celebrating My Brother Dex's 19th birthday.  Lincoln was born on Dex's 18th birthday and we didn't want Dex to think he was forgotten about.

The birthday boys with their cake.

Lincoln loved the birthday cake.  I took his shirt off because I didn't want him to ruin it.

He even wiped a little icing in his hair.

Last time riding rear facing.

First time riding forward facing and he loved it!!!!
